The Idea Behind “25 km”
The “25 km” brand was born during the first lockdown in 2020, when supply chains faltered and transport costs rose. Instead of relying on anonymous wholesalers, we deliberately chose producers from the region around Heimbuchenthal.
Our philosophy: seasonal, regional cuisine with the highest quality standards, fair partnerships, and the utmost respect for animals and the environment.
The People Behind “25 km”
The “25 km” brand is carried by two people who are committed to these values every day:

Thomas Strunk, our head chef, brings years of experience, craftsmanship, and a deep passion for honest cuisine. He knows every ingredient, its origin, and its best use. Together with his team, he creates dishes that make regionality tangible, flavorful, and memorable.

Jürgen Schwab, owner of the Heimathenhof, has actively supported the idea from the very beginning. As a host with deep roots in the region and a clear commitment to sustainability, it is his personal mission to foster close cooperation with local producers. In doing so, he and the Heimathenhof have built a strong culinary network in the Spessart.
