"25km"-Heimath-Love at Heimathenhof

Regional Dining in the Spessart – Sustainable, Fair, and Full of Flavor

At the Heimathenhof, your 4-star wellness and conference hotel in Heimbuchenthal, we serve dishes under our foodie brand “25 km”, whose labeled main ingredients come from regional producers – all within a radius of 25 kilometers.

This is how you experience local cuisine in the Spessart:

  • Freshness & quality directly from our partners

  • Sustainability & short delivery routes, good for nature and animals

  • Transparency & fairness, because we know our producers personally

The Idea Behind “25 km”

The “25 km” brand was born during the first lockdown in 2020, when supply chains faltered and transport costs rose. Instead of relying on anonymous wholesalers, we deliberately chose producers from the region around Heimbuchenthal.

Our philosophy: seasonal, regional cuisine with the highest quality standards, fair partnerships, and the utmost respect for animals and the environment.

The People Behind “25 km”

The “25 km” brand is carried by two people who are committed to these values every day:

  • Thomas Strunk, our head chef, brings years of experience, craftsmanship, and a deep passion for honest cuisine. He knows every ingredient, its origin, and its best use. Together with his team, he creates dishes that make regionality tangible, flavorful, and memorable.

  • Jürgen Schwab, owner of the Heimathenhof, has actively supported the idea from the very beginning. As a host with deep roots in the region and a clear commitment to sustainability, it is his personal mission to foster close cooperation with local producers. In doing so, he and the Heimathenhof have built a strong culinary network in the Spessart.

In the restaurant of the Landhotel Heimathenhof in Heimbuchenthal, located in the Aschaffenburg district, right in the middle of the Spessart Nature Park.

“25 km” is our in-house brand for regional cuisine in the Spessart. All labeled main ingredients come from producers within a 25-kilometer radius of our hotel. The idea was born during the first COVID-19 lockdown, when supply shortages and a slowed-down economy required new approaches. We wanted to take action and promote synergies with local suppliers. This way, the added value stays where it belongs: in our region.

We source meat, game, fish, vegetables, eggs, ice cream, and dairy products such as cheese, fresh cheese, milk, and yogurt exclusively from regional partners, for example, Bäckerei Gerlach, Hofladen Brunner, Ronja’s Räuberkäse, and many more. A detailed list can be found at the top of the page.

Yes, our menu primarily focuses on fresh vegan cuisine with as few additives as possible. We make every effort to source products regionally and to offer our vegetarian and vegan guests fresh, locally sourced, and creatively prepared dishes.
